AFL 2022: Jake Melksham grabs Guernsey from fans, video, Melbourne vs Fremantle, Luke Jackson, Christian Petracca, news
Melbourne’s Jake Melksham has been widely condemned for an ugly act captured by Fox Footy cameras ahead of Friday night’s contest against Fremantle in Perth.
As the Demons raced up the run and entered Optus Stadium, a fan hung a Guernsey Fremantle along the wall as the players passed.

Melksham went against Guernsey, however, and snatched him from the hands of the fans before throwing him to the ground just outside the front door. As more and more players advanced in the race, Christian Petracca picked up the Guernsey and threw him further under the door.
Guernsey would have had a number six at the back, the number worn by Melbourne ruckman Luke Jackson who has been linked with a high-profile move to Dockers.
The ugly act was picked up by those watching and the backlash poured in for the Melbourne utility.
“Jake Melksham catching a Guernsey Freo from a fan and throwing him to the ground is unspectacular,” one fan wrote.
“Pretty ordinary from Melksham & Petracca,” another football fan wrote.
“Grow up Melksham. It’s not hard to ignore Guernsey,” added another.
The Demons broke blocks in the first period, scoring the first three goals of the contest before the Dockers scored their first major.
A close contest saw the Dees head into the first break holding the 4.3 (27) to 2.2 (14) lead.
