Chris Burke admits he couldn’t bring himself to wear a jersey that wasn’t Kilmarnock’s.
The veteran winger has signed up for another year at Rugby Park in a bid to guide them to the Scottish Premiership.
He joins Rory McKenzie, Brandon Haunstrup, Aaron McGowan and Calum Waters as leftovers from last season’s relegated squad.
And the 37-year-old is eager to go.
He said: âIt’s great to sign a new agreement.
âIt took a little while, the decision-making process was a bit slower than people might have thought.
âBut I had to do what was right for me but also for the football club.

“I’m so glad I crossed the line and meeting the band was also great, there are a lot of new faces.”
Speaking to Killie TV, the player added, âI had to reflect on what happened last season, it was disappointing personally and collectively.
âEveryone was hurt by it, but I had to eliminate the emotions and think rationally.
âThat’s why it took a few weeks.
âI spoke to my family and they helped me decide whether to continue or not.
âI still have this passion and motivation, I was humbled by the interest of other clubs, but I can’t see myself putting on another jersey and that’s what happened.
âI am delighted to take on this new challenge.
âThe manager was great through it, he kept in touch and respected my time to make the decision.
âThe board has also been great and I’m delighted that they still have the desire to keep me here. “
