Montoursville held off Jersey Shore late to secure a thrilling 40-37 victory in men’s basketball. John Schneider led Montoursville with 13 points and Isaiah Fenner added nine.

Jersey Shore was led by Damian Williams (19) and Damian McAllister (13).

Williams had eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals and Tristen Gallick had six rebounds and four assists.

• The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team fell to Shepherd Road, 78-50, in a PSAC game.

Jackie Fetsko led the Bald Eagles with nine points and eight rebounds. Jaynelle Robinson had a record 14 rebounds for LHU.

A hot shot in the first quarter saw the Rams take an 18-6 lead late in the first period. The form continued in the second quarter and Shepherd took a decisive 39-16 halftime lead.

• In men’s basketball, Lock Haven lost a road contest to Shepherd , 79-60, in PSAC action.

DaQuan Granberry beat the Bald Eagles with 15 points and also grabbed four rebounds.

Jesse McPherson scored 10 points as one of two double-digit bald eagles. McPherson went a perfect 4-4 from the field and also grabbed four rebounds. Isaiah Stewart rounded out LHU’s score with nine points. Stewart also had three interceptions.

The Bald Eagles kicked off the action in the opening minutes of the game and took an early 9-3 lead. After the Rams tied the game at 13-13, a quick push put LHU ahead 19-13. The rest of the half, however, belonged to the Rams who jumped ahead and extended their lead to 38-28 at halftime.

In the second half, the Rams held the Bald Eagles at bay and led by a whopping 22 points. A solid 54.7% from the field helped Shepherd to a 79-60 victory.

• The Lock Haven University men’s indoor track team lost on day two of action at the Bison Open and Multi.

Kirk Stewart launched Lock Haven on the track with a winning performance over the mile. After trailing West Chester’s Chase Knorr for 600 yards, Stewart took over and raced his way to a time of 4:21.87. After converting to the flat track, this time takes first place in the PSAC.

Andrew Wehrle and Hunter Confair, a Warrior Run graduate, also had strong performances after doubling up today. Wehrle cruised to a PSAC qualifying mark with a sixth-place finish in 4:30.39. Confair was only seconds behind him, finishing eighth with a time of 4:33.06.

In the men’s 60m, rookie Austin Kravetz impressed for the second straight day, posting a mark of 7.18 seconds in the final to finish sixth. In doing so, he tied his best season in the event.

• The Lock Haven University women’s track and field team completed another impressive weekend at the Bucknell Open and Multi.

Riyana Owens made her season debut in the 400. In only her second indoor 400, she ran a 59.38 to win the meet by over a second. That time was converted to 58.61 to rank fourth in PSAC so far.

Anna Manley was not far behind Owens and placed fifth in the 400. Central Mountain graduate Hunter Barger won her heat and placed 11th overall.

In the 1,000m, Jersey Shore graduate Aubrey Sechrist and Molly Snyder battled their way to second and third place, respectively. Sechrist almost stole the show with a win but finished second just nine tenths of a second behind the leader with a time of 3:19.92. Snyder was close behind her with a 3:21.42.

Nearly catching a PSAC mark, Elaina Klinger finished sixth in the mile running 5:29.15 in her indoor mile debut.

• Lock Haven took part in the second day of action at the University of Pittsburgh Western Pennsylvania Invite in College Swimming and capped off the weekend with a number of good times.

Lauren Mummert started her day for the Bald Eagles with a time of 2:22.89 in the 200 IM. Later in the day, Mummert finished with a time of 1:02.39 in the 100 butterfly.

Madison Griffin had a solid effort in the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 26.29.

Competing in the 200 free, Lily Arledge finished her race with a time of 2:08.40.

The combined team of Mummert, Griffin, Sydney Houck and Espefani Soto clocked 1:48.22 in the 200 freestyle relay.
