Manchester City’s blueprint for a world-class striker includes a major sponsor
- Manchester City’s Puma ties could convince Erling Haaland to join them next summer
- Puma hopes to get Borussia Dortmund star to switch brands
- Norwegian superstar has release clause set to be activated next summer
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is set to become one of the most sought-after transfer targets next summer, and Manchester City may have a trump card up their sleeve to sign him with them.
In an exclusive report by Harry Pratt of the Daily Star, Manchester City are hopeful that Puma can step in and get Haaland to join Manchester City against Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The German sportswear maker hopes to have Haaland as the face of its brand and move it away from Nike.
According to Pratt, Puma is ready to offer Haaland a deal worth £ 50million ($ 68.1million) over four years.
The outlet has also claimed that the Norwegian could switch brands sooner if he chooses, which could pave the way for Manchester City to score the much-coveted striker.
The rush to Haaland began this summer after the teams went out of their way to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell them the prolific 21-year-old forward.
However, all talk and rumors ceased after Haaland himself tweeted that he was ready for the journey with his days.
Puma are Manchester City’s kit sponsor after securing a deal valued at around £ 650million ($ 884.9million) over ten years.
Key club figures like manager Pep Guardiola, Kyle Walker, Ederson and Oleksandr Zinchenko also have their personal deals with Puma, and Haaland could join the roster very soon.
Haaland is said to have a £ 68million ($ 92.6million) release clause that is expected to become active next summer, according to The Athletic.
If that were to happen, having Haaland lead Manchester City’s attack could prove to be a worthy bet as he has scored 47 goals in 48 league appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
The potential sponsorship deal with Puma, combined with Manchester City’s high-caliber offense, could be the main reason the much-vaunted striker might choose to join the Etihad Stadium side next summer.
