Season of Giving: Mavs Tim Hardaway Jr. to help with housing payments
“There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.”
As the holidays approach and less fortunate families in need of help, the Dallas Mavericks have once again stepped up for the communities of North Texas. On December 14, Mavs guard Tim Hardaway Jr. will surprise two families with housing assistance while hosting an event for the Dallas Leadership Foundation – a blessing indeed.
Not only will Hardaway Jr. help with three months’ rent, but the Charity Mavs will also offer custom team gear in addition to winter essentials. While donating money is the highlight ($ 10,000 through the Dallas Leadership Foundation), spending time with family, playing games and dining at Dave and Buster’s is the spirit of the holidays.
NBA Cares is more than a heartwarming slogan; it is a movement to improve our communities. Hardaway Jr.’s selfless act is part of Season of Giving – an extension of the league and the Mavericks’ dedication to providing aid to thousands of families for the holidays.
The mission of the Dallas Leadership Foundation is to recognize, affirm and develop leaders to reshape communities.
Hardaway Jr. is committed to supporting families in North Texas. On Monday evening, the Sixth Man of the Mavs hosted an event for a local nonprofit, Bridgebuilders. The association is focused on rebuilding communities in southern Dallas.
