Syracuse Football Pledges, One of Top 15 QBs Nationally, to Officially Visit Orange
It’s going to be quite a busy summer for Syracuse football in terms of the team’s recruiting efforts as well as welcoming high school prospects to the Hill for visits.
According to its Twitter page, 2023 hires three stars LaNorris Sellers plans to make an official visit to Orange on June 24which is exciting to hear.
The 6-foot-2 Sellers, a junior from South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks across the country in his class.
He is a consensus three-star player, according to all major recruiting services. Sellers have said he will commit to the ‘Cuse in March, and I think his commitment to the Orange is a huge fundamental for the team in the 2023 cycle.
Syracuse football will welcome QB signee LaNorris Sellers to central New York next month.
Besides the vendors, there are plenty of recruiting targets planning to head to the ‘Cuse in June. Two of those high school prospects we recently rated are 2023 three-star linebacker Zyian Moultrie-Goddard of Iona Prep School in New Rochelle, NY, and 2023 three-star offensive lineman Eric King with Saint Prep School. Peter in Jersey City, New Jersey
Going back to Sellers, he had previously given a verbal commitment to Virginia, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. However, at the end of the 2021 college football campaign, Cavaliers head coach Bronco Mendenhall stepped down.
Additionally, UVA offensive coordinator Robert Anae and quarterbacks coach Jason Beck left that team to take on similar roles with Syracuse football.
The technical staff of Orange offered a scholarship to Sellers, who had reopened his recruitment in mid-January. He then committed to Syracuse football, revealing his pick via Twitter on March 6.
Throughout its recruiting process, besides the ‘Cuse and Virginia, other offers the salespeople had gotten were from Virginia Tech, Memphis, Washington State, Appalachia State, and State from Georgia.
ESPN and On3 rank him among the top 15 quarterbacks of the 2023 cycle. Virtually every major recruiting service places him among the top 10 players in South Carolina.
Both industry-generated recruiting services, 247Sports Composite and On3 Consensus, have ranked him nationally in this class.
The 247Sports Composite, at the time of this writing, placed the sellers at No. 642 overall, while the On3 Consensus placed it at No. 656 nationally.
I’m excited to have the LaNorris vendors heading to the Hill in a few weeks!
